Check the schedule and get ready for an unforgettable experience in Mountaineer country.

Parking, Check-in and Transportation

Check-in starts at 9 a.m. at the Student Recreation Center (Evansdale), Mountainlair Student Union (Downtown) and Mountaineer Station (Health Sciences). Your check-in location is determined by the major you're interested in. Use the check-in location finder to see where you'll start your day.

Free transportation will be provided:

  • WVU buses will be available to transport you to the Mountainlair, residence halls, Student Rec Center, Evansdale Crossing and the parking areas. The last bus runs at 4:30 p.m.
  • The (PRT) can take you to one of five stops: Beechurst Avenue, Engineering, Medical Center, Towers or Walnut Street. A WVU representative will be at each PRT station to assist you. The PRT runs until 5 p.m.

A map of bus stops, PRT stops and designated parking areas will be provided at check-in.

Tips for Attending

  • Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
  • Start planning your day now to make the most of your time on campus.
  • Bring your questions for on-the-spot answers.
  • Dress for the weather and wear comfortable clothing. You may be traveling between buildings and touring campus.
  • Visit the to find other campus events to attend while you're here.
  • Go beyond campus. Morgantown deserves exploration too! Use to find lodging, dining and activities.

Friday On-Your-Own Activities

9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Experience campus and Morgantown on your own! Tours, events, athletics, shows and Mountaineer fun!

  • Take in a WVU men's basketball game Friday, Nov. 8, at the WVU Coliseum. The Mountaineers play UMass (time to be determined).
  • Take a campus tour at the WVU Visitors Center on Friday, Oct. 25, or Friday, Nov. 8. Get an in depth look at campus before Discover WVU Open House!
  • Check out, work out and experience the during the weekends of Friday, Oct. 25, through Sunday, Oct. 27, and Friday, Nov. 8, through Sunday, Nov. 10.

Check-in will be offered on each of our three areas of campus: Downtown, Evansdale and Health Sciences. Your check-in location is determined by the major you are interested in.

Welcome and Academic Sessions

10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

Each academic college and school will hold its own welcome and academic session. Attend the session for the school or college that houses the major you're most interested in.

Lunch

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Lunch is on us! Use the meal ticket you receive at check-in to enjoy lunch in a variety of locations on campus.

Walking Tours

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Leaving from Mountainlair, Vandalia Lounge, 1st Floor

Join one of our tour leaders for a short walk around the Downtown area of campus. You’ll be able to see the buildings you'll be learning in while also getting key information.

Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) Tours

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Leaving from the Refresh box across the street from the Mountainlair

Join one of our tour leaders and see campus from the unique perspective of our monorail system! Learn how to navigate campus and see firsthand how the PRT connects the Downtown, Evansdale and Health Sciences areas of campus. You’ll get to hear facts, stories and trivia from our very own one-of-a-kind transportation.

Our campus is pretty spectacular in the fall. Celebrate the season in the busiest place on campus, in front of the Mountainlair! Get ready to take some photos, grab a snack, pick up your event giveaway and mingle with current students while enjoying the fall scenery.

Housing Showrooms Available

Showrooms will be available in most of our residence halls for you to get a sneak peek of what it is like to live on campus. Stop by any of the available halls during this time to view the available rooms and ask questions about the space.

Aquatic and Fish Lab
326 Percival Hall
The Fisheries and Aquatic Ecology Lab contains many tools of the trade, and students, including undergraduates, masters, doctoral and post-doctoral, working to solve applied fisheries problems. In the tour you'll hear about ongoing work addressing aquatic food web ecology, invasive species management, watershed assessment to mediate acid-mine drainage and climate adaptation throughout the Ohio River and Chesapeake Bay drainages, as well as ongoing work in the Amazon addressing natural resource integrity and equitability.

Building Entomology Lab (Nov. 9 only)

At the WVU Entomology Lab, you'll explore how insects interact with different environments, from forests and farms to urban areas and waterways. You’ll also visit the WVU Insect Zoo and Museum, where we provide educational outreach for students and the public.

Core Arboretum
Come learn some tree ID and fun facts about trees with the Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources right on WVU's main campus! Our arboretum is 91 acres of old growth forest that students can use anytime they want.

Environmental Science Lab (Oct. 26 only)

No imagination? No fun? Then no sustainable future. Come learn how cryptids, fairies and love poems play a key role in community resilience and environmental conservation in Dr. María Pérez's lab. Explore how microbes interact with soils, water, plants and insects in different environments, revealing the important roles these tiny organisms play in ecosystems.

Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic

The WVU Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic serves clients from the community – and provides opportunities for hands-on, supervised experience to WVU students who are studying to become audiologists and speech-language pathologists. During this tour, you’ll get a sneak peek into these facilities and the state-of-the-art equipment that our practitioners – current and future – use to improve the lives of individuals with speech and hearing challenges.

VR Construction Safety Lab

Our new VR Construction Safety Lab is an advanced facility for safety research, education and workforce development in the construction industry. Featuring a VR treadmill, slope-adjustable roof simulator and VR/AR devices, it offers immersive simulations of real-world environments, allowing users to practice safety protocols, improve hazard recognition and enhance decision-making in a safe, controlled setting.

Adventure WV

Adventure WV’s are optional, peer-lead, adventure-based experiences that prepare incoming students for life at WVU. Trips offer participants diverse opportunities to meet other first-year students, learn about themselves and connect with WVU. There are 3 trip models to choose from. Trips are 5 or 6 days in length and offer an exciting array of activities!

Whether your family is new to the college application process or if you’re just rusty on the details, we’re here to help. The process, timelines and terminology can be confusing, and every school is different. We’ll make it easier with a short presentation about how things work at WVU with plenty of time for Q&A.

Majors and Resource Fair

Mountainlair, Ballrooms, 2nd Floor

Stop by the Mountainlair Ballrooms to talk with representatives from , student support services, campus activities and student (and parent) organizations. This is a great place for more information on majors, double majors, minors, tutoring and other support offices across campus. Parents, we have a table for you too!

Last Bus

4:30 p.m.

The last bus will leave the Mountainlair at 4:30 p.m. and make its final loop through campus to return you to your parking area.
